The beginning .. of this chapter anyways.

Recap:
May 20th 2011.

Christian and I have always been big fans of may long weekend. Its like your standing at the starting mark of summer, and May long is your official "GO!" Its the first big weekend of camping. This May long was no exception, only this year a few things were different - We had our own car and we were going camping solo for the first time!

Christian had researched some locations and came up with The Massasauga Provincial Park. We had some friends staying with us for the week, and left the packing and grocery shopping until the night before. Terrible idea, but we did it. Even cooked some delish vegetarian chili to take with us. By 2am the bags were packed, the groceries were ready, the canoe was in the living room. (we live in TO- we didn't have anywhere to put it!!)

ps. Happy Birthday Meg.

May 21st 2011.
We had a great drive out to the park, and had an enjoyable paddle into the site. The day consisted of setting up, picnic lunch, fishing and enjoying our site. When night time came I noticed Christian getting a little quiet. I caught him staring at me a few times and asked him if he was okay. Little did I know he was just waiting for the right moment.
He went to the cooler to get strawberries for a snack.. and I thought to myself "I sure hope he doesn't put a ring on one of those berries" He offered a few but they were so smooshed from the trek out that I didn't know how he was even eating them. We sat by the bonfire for a bit and then I heard fireworks. I ran down to the beach to see if I could see them. Christian followed. Guess that was the moment he had been waiting for. As I searched the sky for the fireworks I looked back to see Christian on one knee behind me. I was SHOCKED! Even thought I had had "I wonder when he will do it" feelings for the past year I was totally caught of guard. What a feeling it is!! He asked I said yes.. we hugged for about a half an hour. He told me about how he asked my dad, picked out the right ring, told his family. He told me about how he practiced what he was going to say in the car on the way while I napped, how he was bursting to tell someone and spilled the beans to my friend. We talked and talked about the moments leading up to it. It was so nice hearing about all the planning he had done.
We went back to the fire and talked and talked and every once and a while we would shine a head lamp light on my new sparkling ring. The next day it POURED rain - we took the opportunity to sit by the fire all day and talk about what our wedding would be like, all the things we would get to do, and what our future would hold.

Its been a long time coming, but it couldn't have happened at a better time/place or moment.

We can;t wait to celebrate with everyone.
And share some details along the way.

so thats it. well my side anyways.
